چکیده

At high frequencies, the sound propagation can be approximated by the propagation of sound particles which are reflected and absorbed at the boundaries. This propagation follows then a transport process. In urban canyons, this transport process can be reduced to a diffusion process. The resultant model allows one to obtain the spatial distribution of the acoustical energy in a street for a very low computational cost by using a classical finite elements program. This diffusion model has been previously validated in rectilinear streets for different geometrical and acoustical parameters. In this paper, more complex geometries such as varying crosssections, bends and streets crossing are dealt with. Although the diffusion model only models the reverberant sound field, diffraction effects on the direct sound field at streets corners are not added. The obtained results are then compared to scale model experiments. a Email address. [email protected] b Email address. [email protected] c Email address. [email protected] d Email address. Sound Wave Propagation in Viscous Liquid-Filled Non-Rigid Carbon Nanotube with Finite Length

In this paper, numerical results obtained and explained from an exact formula in relation to sound pressure load due to the presence of liquid inside the finite-length non-rigid carbon nanotubes (CNTs), which is coupled with the dynamic equations of motion for the CNT. To demonstrate the accuracy of this work, the obtained formula has been compared to what has been used by other research...

Lattice numerical simulations of hydraulic fractures interacting with oblique natural interfaces

The hydraulic fracturing propagation is strongly influenced by the existence of natural fractures. This is a very important factor in hydraulic fracturing operations in unconventional reservoirs. Various studies have been done to consider the effect of different parameters such as stress anisotropy, toughness, angle of approach and fluid properties on interaction mechanisms including crossing, ...

Three-dimensional linearised Euler model simulations of sound propagation in idealised urban situations with wind effects

A three-dimensional numerical time-domain model based on the linearised Euler equation is applied to idealised urban situations with elongated, isolated buildings beside a straight street with sound emissions. The paper aims at the investigation of principle relationships between the source– receiver geometry (street and building facades) and sound propagation under the consideration of ground ...

Hydraulic fracture propagation: analytical solutions versus Lattice simulations

In this work, we used a grain-based numerical model based on the concept of lattice. The modelling was done to simulate the lab experiments carried out on the mortar samples. Also the analytical solutions corresponding to the viscosity-dominated regime were used to estimate the fracture length and width, and the results obtained were compared with the numerical simulations. As the analytical so...
